About Uruguay

Uruguay is the second smallest nation in South America. Located in the southeastern part of the region, Uruguay has a population of 3.5 million people, 1.4 million of whom live in the capital, Montevideo. Uruguay is regarded as the most economically developed country in South America with trade in agricultural being the primary economic activity. Although this leads to greater susceptibility to trade shocks, Uruguay has experienced economic growth since 2003 and it enjoys greater financial stability than many of its neighbours. This is regarded as being reflective of the country’s solid reputation among investors. Uruguay has a temperate climate with warm to hot summers and cool to cold winters. The capital, Montevideo, is situated on the south coast and is regarded as the hub of commerce and higher education.
