Biography

Oswald Kan is a counsel in our Hong Kong office, advising on banking, finance, corporate and commercial matters. His clients include leading onshore local and international law firms, major international financial institutions and listed and private companies. Prior to joining us in 2018, Oswald worked as an assistant solicitor in the Corporate and Commercial department of a Hong Kong law firm, Woo Kwan Lee & Lo, where he was involved in a wide range of matters, including cross-border corporate transactions in Hong Kong and China such as mergers and acquisitions, placing, takeovers, trusts and Hong Kong listing rules compliance. Oswald Kan is a counsel in our Hong Kong office, advising on banking, finance, corporate and commercial matters. His clients include leading onshore local and international law firms, major international financial institutions and listed and private companies.

Prior to joining us in 2018, Oswald worked as an assistant solicitor in the Corporate and Commercial department of a Hong Kong law firm, Woo Kwan Lee & Lo, where he was involved in a wide range of matters, including cross-border corporate transactions in Hong Kong and China such as mergers and acquisitions, placing, takeovers, trusts and Hong Kong listing rules compliance. In his current practice, Oswald specialises in debt finance advising on, among others, acquisition finance, bond issuances, property finance and syndicated lending.

Oswald speaks Cantonese, English and Mandarin.

Acting as Cayman Islands counsel to offshore investment and asset management platform, Ping An Overseas Holdings, in relation to its US$680 million private credit secondaries transaction.

Acting as BVI counsel to a major listed company in Hong Kong in relation to the sale and purchase of various lines of business, including provision of public bus and travel related services in Hong Kong.

Acting as BVI and Cayman Islands counsel, to a private equity arm of a financial holding corporation and its affiliates, on their corporate mezzanine financing to one of the leading serviced apartment providers in Hong Kong. The financing transaction consisted of a combination of loan facility and note sharing a common transaction security package.

Acting as Cayman Islands counsel to a leading international provider of financing solutions and services, with a focus on the property industry, in financing of the acquisition of a hotel property based in the Maldives.
