Expertise and Professional Background
Mirza joined the Harneys team in October 2008 and is currently in the firm's Professional Development Programme. Since his tenure commenced at Harneys he has worked in the Corporate and Commercial Department where he advised clients on a wide cross-section of corporate matters. He later joined the Banking and Finance team where he frequently advised banks and financial institutions and the world's leading law firms on various aspects of BVI banking law.
Mirza also has experience in the Litigation & Insolvency Department of the firm where in association with senior litigators he frequently advised and represented clients, both local and international, at all levels of the court system, ranging from the Magistrate's court to the Court of Appeal.
Mirza is currently working in the Investment Funds and Regulatory Department where he is advising on a range of fund formation and structuring matters as well as BVI regulatory law and practice.
Prior to joining Harneys Mirza worked at the Legal Aid Clinic, Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago where he specialized in the Family Law Clinic and completed a secondary in-service as a student attorney to the Director and attorneys of the Clinic. Mirza did his primary in-service stint at the Chambers of Forde and Amsterdam in Guyana.
