Expertise and Professional Background
Michael Riegels, QC joined Harneys in 1973 and was senior partner from 1984 until his retirement in 1997. He also served as President of the British Virgin Islands Bar Association from 1996 to 1998. Subsequent to his retirement he continues to act as a consultant to the firm as well as a number of private clients and to the British Virgin Islands Government. He also frequently gives expert evidence to foreign tribunals on matters of British Virgin Islands law. He was the inaugural Chairman of the Financial Services Commission of the British Virgin Islands. He is a Notary Public of the British Virgin Islands.
