On 4 March 2019 the European Council prolonged EU sanctions for one year until 6 March 2020 to freeze the assets against individuals identified as responsible for the misappropriation of Ukrainian state funds.

These restrictive measures were initially imposed by EU on 5 March 2014 and have been extended on a yearly basis since then.
