On 13 September 2019, the BVI Financial Investigation Agency (FIA) published a guidance note on suspicious transactions and suspicious activity reports which comes into force on 1 October 2019.
The purpose of the guidance note is to provide assistance and practical guidance to persons, financial institutions, non-financial business, organisations and all other businesses and establishments in fulfilling their obligations to file a suspicious transaction or suspicious activity report to the FIA in accordance with the Proceeds of Criminal Conduct Act 1997 and the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Code of Practice 2008.
