Jermaine Case is a member of the Investment Funds & Regulatory team in our BVI office.
Prior to joining us, Jermaine was a crown counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers in Jamaica. He worked on a variety of matters relating to air policy, public international law, international investment law and competition law. He was instrumental in the Government of Jamaica’s successful commercial arbitration involving a leading Jamaica bauxite company. He also advised on the conclusion of public-private partnerships leading to the revitalization of Jamaica’s bauxite and alumina sector.
As a designated Government of Jamaica expert to the United Nations, Jermaine gained significant experience dealing with the global anti-corruption regulatory framework. He was a member of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) working group which was commissioned with drafting the FATCA Guidance notes. He also advised the Government on the conclusion of tax information exchange agreements.
Jermaine started his legal career as a member of the Litigation team at Myers, Fletcher & Gordon. While there, his main focus was employment dispute resolution. He was involved in a number of high profile employment litigation cases involving various banks, other financial institutions and hotel operators.
