Harneys wins Deal of the Year: High Yield Award from IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards 2022
Harneys is delighted to announce that it has won the Deal of the Year: High Yield Award from IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards 2022. The Awards celebrate the region’s most legally innovative cross-border deals, highlighting those which break new ground, set legal precedent, and enhance the legal environment for cross-border finance.
Harneys acted as Cayman and BVI counsel to Kaisa Group Holdings Ltd, a mainland China property developer listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, in its issuance of US$500 million 11.7% senior notes due 2025 and concurrent exchange and tender offer to refinance existing medium to long-term offshore debt.
Our BVI Managing Partner Tanya Cassie-Parker and Russell Willings, co-head of our global Banking & Finance and Corporate groups, led the team, supported by BVI Associate Melissa Thomas.
Tanya commented, “We are very pleased to have won this award. We pride ourselves on our ability to support clients using resources from Hong Kong to London to the Caribbean. We draw on this depth of expertise to embrace and promote innovation in the deals we advise on, and in an ever-changing legal environment.” Russell added, “We feel honoured to receive this acknowledgement by our fellow industry professionals. In this demanding environment it is immensely satisfying to be able to support a long-term client such as Kaisa, and the recognition of that support by IFLR and by our peers is much appreciated by the team.”
The Banking & Finance team at Harneys has decades of experience advising on BVI legal issues relating to debt finance including bilateral and syndicated loans, note and bond issues, project finance, aircraft financing, ship financing, property financing, and lease finance. The team is regularly instructed on multi-billion-dollar debt finance transactions by leading financial institutions and corporates.
