We recently acted as BVI counsel to various insurance companies (including the Prudential Insurance Company of America and Mutual of Omah Insurance Company) on the transfer of US$155 million loan notes from Liberty Living to the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) in connection with the sale of the Liberty Living property management portfolio by Brandeaux (a student accommodation fund manager) to CPPIB.
 
  • Advising the borrower in connection with a €400,000,000 loan from a U.S based company which specialises in providing commercial lending services in the form of acquisition finance, working capital finance, bridge loans and recapitalizations to businesses and private equity sponsors.
  • Advising Aura Minerals Inc, a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange in connection with the BVI aspects of a series of gold loans made to Aura Minerals by Auramet International LLC (a Puerto Rican based subsidiary of Auramet Trading LLC) which provides merchant banking and other services.
  • Advising one of the world’s largest brokers of art, real estate and other collectibles in connection with loans and other transactions entered into with BVI incorporated companies.
  • Advising Quilvest Private Equity (a large fund with private equity, venture capital, real estate, emerging markets and energy-related investments) on a series of issues of loan notes to institutional investors.
