Harneys bolsters its Hong Kong Litigation and Restructuring practice with strategic new hire

9 October 2017

Harneys has bolstered its already market-leading litigation and restructuring practice in Hong Kong with the recruitment of consultant Lorinda Peasland, who joins the firm from DLA Piper where she was an equity partner for many years.

Lorinda has over 25 years' experience in the restructuring and insolvency field, and is highly skilled in all types of corporate restructuring and formal insolvency transactions. She boasts considerable expertise in cross-border insolvency issues and finance-related contentious matters, with advanced specialist skills in banking and asset-based lending within the distressed corporate climate.

Lorinda will support partner Ian Mann, head of Harneys' Asia Litigation and Restructuring Practice, and partner Chai Ridgers, who leads Harneys' Restructuring and Insolvency Department in Hong Kong. Harneys is the only offshore litigation team to have a dedicated restructuring department within it, which regularly advises high-profile clients on Asia’s most complex multi-jurisdictional restructuring deals.

Ian commented: "Lorinda will be an invaluable asset to our team at a time when increasing numbers of creditors are choosing restructuring over litigation. Our clients have grown to expect a capable and trustworthy team that consistently delivers sophisticated advice in a timely and efficient manner, and we are delighted to have further support from Lorinda in providing an unmatched level of service and expertise in this field."

Lorinda is recommended for her prowess in corporate recoveries by Legal 500, which calls her 'responsive and knowledgeable'. Her expert knowledge complements Harneys' already robust team in Asia, which now comprises no less than 19 lawyers and is recognised as the lodestar of the offshore litigation landscape in Asia.

Harneys remains at the vanguard of the development of offshore jurisprudence in restructuring and insolvency, and is unrivalled in terms of experience, expertise and diversity of work. The team is regularly lauded for its advanced restructuring capabilities, recent examples being its work on the US$2.5 billion Kaisa Holdings Restructuring and the US$1.5 billion Pacific Andes liquidation, both of which won several awards.
