BVI Office Temporary Closure

As you will have seen in the press over the last five days, Hurricane Irma passed over the British Virgin Islands as a category 5 hurricane and inflicted widespread damage.

Our Business Continuity committee has organised an evacuation of staff which started on Sunday as the BVI airport is now open for commercial traffic. A number of staff and families will be temporarily evacuated although some partners and staff will remain in the BVI to continue our efforts to re-open our offices there.

In the meantime, all of our other 12 offices remain open and are operating normally and can handle any new or existing matters which might ordinarily be dealt with by our BVI office – BVI’s global business is still open.

A statement has now been issued by the Chief Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court on the situation in BVI:

We endorse the heartening and determined comments of the Chief Justice, and will be assisting in any way possible to enable the speedy resumption of the courts in the BVI, and the conduct of urgent hearings as required in other locations.

We wish to take this opportunity to thank our clients for their messages of support and we re-iterate our commitment to providing a seamless service at this time.
