Hong Kong Restructuring Week is upon us and in full swing.
We previously blogged about HKRW and the great lineup of events scheduled as well as the opportunities it will provide for Restructuring and Insolvency practitioners to meet in the beating heart of APAC’s finance and capital market hub.
On Tuesday 6 November, the 2nd Annual GRR Live Hong Kong Conference took place and was well attended. The programme began with a keynote speech by Mr Justice Jonathan Harris of the High Court, Hong Kong followed by sessions on ‘Restructuring in the PRC – the view on the ground’ and ‘Restructuring in the PRC – looking from the outside in’.
On Wednesday 7 November the INSOL Hong Kong One Day Seminar will run for a full day, followed by networking drinks at Liberty Exchange (sponsored by Harneys).
The INSOL Seminar will touch on PRC Restructuring, the latest trends, its impact on foreign stakeholders and the effect of the PRC Bankruptcy Law on these trends; the Indian Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code; Cross Border Insolvencies involving Asia, the US and relevant Offshore Jurisdictions; and What is happening in Hong Kong and where to from here?
Ian Mann will be participating on the Offshore Panel and discussing cross-border insolvencies involving Asia, the United States and applicable offshore jurisdictions and the issues such insolvencies entail, specifically those of: (a) EMAS Chiyoda Subsea Ltd – a Singapore based subsea services company, which filed for Chapter 11 protection in March 2017; and (b) China Fishery Group Ltd – a company which forms part of the Pacific Andes Group, the world’s twelfth largest seafood company, which filed for Chapter 11 protection in June 2016 despite having its centre of operations in Asia and crown jewel assets in Peru.
Updates and photos from the events will follow and most importantly video interviews from panelists and attendees of HKRW will be featured throughout the remainder of the week. Watch this space!
