Charles Wong joined us in May 2017 and is a member of our Litigation, Restructuring and Insolvency practice group in the Hong Kong office. He acts in disputes for financial institutions, private companies and listed companies.
Charles qualified as a solicitor of Hong Kong in 2013, and has offshore litigation experience in insolvency proceedings, injunction proceedings, shareholder disputes and probate applications. He has acted for liquidators in insolvency proceedings, including winding up, appointment of liquidators and implementing parallel schemes of arrangements across jurisdictions. He has also acted for financial institutions in obtaining an urgent black swan injunction in support of proceedings in Thailand and Singapore to prevent dissipation of assets. Charles has experience in shareholder and director disputes, including acting for the majority shareholder to resolve issues of deadlock within a family-owned group of companies in proceedings across the Cayman Islands and Samoa, as well as defending against derivative claims by minority shareholders for alleged breaches of fiduciary duty. Charles also has experience in probate matters, including applications for grant of probate, ad colligenda bona applications, and resealing of overseas grants in the British Virgin Islands.
He is fluent in English and Cantonese with a working knowledge of Mandarin.
