Biography

James Granby is a senior associate in our Hong Kong Litigation and Restructuring team. His practice involves a broad range of offshore commercial litigation, including dissenting share appraisal claims, unfair prejudice claims, and insolvency proceedings. James is a member of Harneys Trusts and Private Client Advisory Group and regularly acts for trustees and beneficiaries in trusts disputes. He also advises in non-contentious trusts matters and advises and acts in contentious and non-contentious offshore probate matters. Prior to joining us in 2017, James practiced for several years as a chancery and commercial barrister at the English Bar. ...

Advising and acting for a BVI private trust company in a long-running dispute regarding the ownership of shares in a PRC pharmaceutical company.

Advising the trustee of a BVI family trust in relation to a dispute concerning the misappropriation of millions of dollars from the trust fund by beneficiaries of the trust.

Advising China Biologic Products Holdings, Inc. on its take-private transaction, which was valued at approximately US$4.7 billion.
