Biography

Jan is a member of the Litigation & Insolvency team in our British Virgin Islands office.

He has experience dealing with a wide range of complex multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes, including insolvency, civil fraud, debt and asset recovery, enforcement, contentious trusts matters, and international arbitration. He acts for a variety of clients, including companies, creditors, directors, insolvency practitioners, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals as well as working with financial institutions and insurers. Jan also has experience representing clients on urgent interlocutory applications for injunctions and other types of interim relief.

Before joining us in 2026, Jan was an associate in the Litigation & Arbitration team at Withers BVI (having previously been based in their London office) where he gained a wealth of experience in a wide gamut of disputes, including commercial litigation, insolvency, and investment-treaty arbitration as well as public international law and art law matters. He acted for clients dealing with urgent injunctive relief applications, contractual claims, breaches of director’s duties, contested statutory demands and liquidations, and trust disputes, across a range of sectors, including aviation, construction, defence, financial services, hospitality, insurance, technology, and digital assets.

Jan is dual qualified (England & Wales and BVI, 2021). He holds Higher Rights of Audience in England & Wales and is qualified to appear as an advocate before the Courts of the British Virgin Islands and has a number of appearances as an advocate in the BVI High Court and Court of Appeal under his belt.
